I’ve seen this for myself. I have vastly increased how much I exercise over the past two years, and am still at the same weight.
And the research backs this up. The more exercise you do, the more efficient your body gets with expending calories.
This isn’t to say that exercise does nothing. It improves your health big time but sleep and diet are a bigger factor in weight loss.

@trinsec Muscle mass is denser than fat, but I wouldn’t say these are 1:1 things.
Gaining muscle does not necessarily mean “burning” fat.

@atomicpoet you do seem leaner in the last photo you posted from the gym compared to some of the older ones I remember. Might not lead to weight loss, but it's definitely doing something and it definitely starts to show.
