Concord took 8 years to develop.
And you could only play it for 2 weeks before it shut down.
It is—without a doubt—the biggest flop in entertainment history.

@atomicpoet Wait, it shut down? I'm usually getting my gaming news from podcasts, and I'm a bit behind. I just heard about its release.

@loke Yeah, you can’t even buy it. Not even physically—Sony removed it from sale on Amazon.
By September 9, servers will be shut down forever.

@atomicpoet I just read the summary on Wikipedia. It looks pretty bad.
I recall when Sony announced they had some ungodly number of "live service" games in development. That seemed like a terrible strategy to me. Seems like at least some of that pessimism has borne out to be true.

@loke The problem was that the PvP hero shooter is a saturated genre, and most of the good games are free.
Sony was charging $40 for Concord, and nobody was there!

@atomicpoet @loke honestly great marketing if they open it back up at like $5 a pop just to try it out. Now I’m curious
