Kaiser Permanente has a thing where if your coverage isn't active, you can't use their mobile app.
You can use the website, which gives you access to all the same features, just less usefully on the go.

Can you think of any reason they would do this that isn't just them being assholes?

because I've worked on sites before that have had to close temporarily because of federal budget problems. like, the site was still functional, but we had to upload a new version of it that said "we don't have the budget to run this site at the moment", despite hosting that message costing just as much as hosting the real site.

I've also dealt with sites that were closed "after hours" and "on weekends".

and even I can't imagine why kaiser does this.

besides incompetence, I mean. that one is a given. These are the same fuckers who misgender me when I'm getting my hormones (THEY ARE LITERALLY THE ONES WHO DIAGNOSED ME WITH TRANS) and are also the same ones who want to put me on weight loss drugs because I'm "too fat" for surgery. Said drugs have the same side-effects as my actual health condition.

these are the same fuckers who made me delay my CT scan from today to next month because they haven't updated their records quickly enough, and they canceled my coverage and haven't bothered reinstating it yet.

next month of course means they have a whole new months worth of incompetence to cancel my account again.
