so do most laptop power supplies just have a very poor power factor and i never noticed. i'm energy profiling my m720q and noticed a poor power factor, tried 3 different power supplies via various adapters to about the same, and then just to test out i powered up my docked laptop (powered from a 20v 230w power brick broken out to multiple tips) and it has a similarly poor power factor

if i'm being honest i do not quite understand the implications of a bad power factor but i just noticed that my pc's power supply is much better in that respect yknow

@rudi you can just think of it like "efficiency". Having a power factor closer to 1 means less coal/oil/whatever gets burnt to produce the same amount of current.
